I started out hunting with an old recurve bow, no arrow stops on the string, no sites, nothing, just the bow and the arrow...

Makes you wonder why I was never able to kill anything with it... :-D

It was neat when you are a young kid and have never had anything else, but when I got a few years into it I wanted a new compound, and man that really changed things and seemed like it was so easy to shoot then...

Now looking back, I would really like to have a recurve again, the old wooden arrows, and real feather fletchings, it was a neat bow...

It was my fathers bow and when I was using it was already pretty old, and it met its demise one morning as I was at my buddies house and went to string it, and the one limb split...

I felt so bad because it was old and wasn't mine, but my father wasn't too concerned about it since he ddn't hunt anymore with it.

Anyone else still using an old school recurve with success?

I never hunted with a recurve, started with compounds and now crossbows but I think it is so cool to see people still hunting with the recurves.

I have been hunting with a recurve for over 20 years and kill at least 2 deer a year with one. Shot a bear up in Canada with a recurve. I have shot squires, rabbits, pheasents, chipmunks. I shoot mostly carbon arrows with my recurve now. Was breaking too many wood arrows.

That is cool...

It definitely is a dying sport, not many people out the would even know how to string one.

Do you have a knocking point and / or a sight on yours ?
