While out Trapping last January, I was walking through the 1 field and found over 200 Praying Mantis Egg Sacks on Weed Stems.
I started cutting the weed stems and taking egg sacks home with me to help to hopefully get a nice little amount of praying mantises in my yard around my Flower Beds and Garden to help take care of Problem Insects!
I have caught and brought home over the years Adult Praying Mantises but they never seemed to stick around or did any egg sacks ever show up anywhere around the house.
So, I resorted to gathering Egg Sacks on my Walks on the Trap Line in the winter and stashing them in the Outside Basement Over Hang to have them hatch and hopefully stick around my Yard or area of my Yard and help with the Problem Bugs!
Since last Sunday they have been Hatching.
200 Egg Sacks and since last Sunday, Maybe 30 egg sacks have hatched so far.
Something to gather for your Garden or Flower Beds while out hunting or Trapping in the Winter. Look for Praying Mantis Egg Sacks on Weed Stems, Evergreen Tree Limbs and Moniflorial Rose Bushes or Raspberry and Black Berry Bushes, cut a part of the stem off with the egg sack attached and bring home with you, place in an out of the way spot somewhere near your house, in an UNheated Garage or Shed or Outside Over Hang of a Basement Entryway https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=...e=3&theaterhttps://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=...e=3&theaterhttps://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=...e=3&theaterhttps://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=...e=3&theater
